Cristiano Ronaldo recently completed his move to Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, making him the highest paid footballer in the world.                                                      Cristiano Ronaldo was unveiled as a new Al Nassr player on December 30, 2022, after much speculation on his future. The Portuguese star was on the hunt for a new club post his contract termination with Manchester United in November.

The 37-year-old was linked to several European clubs, including Chelsea and Atletico Madrid, before his move to Asian football.

Meanwhile, it has always been an event marked by fans on their calendars. While it was a regular occurrence in El Clasicos, their coming together on the pitch has reduced since their move away from La Liga. 

Messi’s club PSG are set to face Al nasrr on January 19, 2023, in a friendly match, according to reports. It could be one of the final Ronaldo-Messi clashes at the club level.

The match was a contractual obligation for the Parisians, initially scheduled last year. But due to COVID-19 concerns, it was postponed to be a part of PSG’s midseason tour of Saudi Arabia in the 2022-23 season.

Al Nassr, managed by Rudi Garcia, features several ex-Ligue 1 players, including David Ospina, Alvaro Gonzalez, Luiz Gustavo and Vincent Aboubakar.

While Ronaldo looks forward to his new challenge in Saudi Arabia, Messi, who recently orchestrated Argentina’s success, is likely to rejoin the PSG fold after his international exploits. The Argentine forward is expected to feature in the friendly, as is Ronaldo. If both stars are fit to take the pitch, football fans globally could queue up to watch them in action.

Since the Ballon d’Or nomination for the duo in 2007, Ronaldo and Messi have scripted history in a titanic battle between the two rivals. While Ronaldo has five Ballon d’Ors, Messi has won seven. Meanwhile, after the World Cup win, Messi has etched his name as the  goat of football.
